Scrap Dodge garage guide: tyres, plating and chrome
Grip tyres, roof plating or chrome paint? How scrap works in Scrap Dodge, what each garage upgrade really does and what to buy first in this free dodge game.
In Scrap Dodge, the crane drops bolts, plates and whole engines, and you drag your little car left and right to stay alive. It's a free dodge game in your browser, no download. But surviving is only half of it. Every run also earns scrap, and scrap buys upgrades in the garage.
How scrap works
Each run pays scrap for the time you survived, whether you clear the level or not. Clear the level and you get a bonus on top, and the bonus grows with the level number. Each level has a target score shown on the menu, and your score is simply how long you last. Level 1 asks for 20 seconds. Every level after that asks for ten more, and the scrap falls faster and thicker.
Your scrap total sits on the garage button on the menu. If you're signed in to the portal, your progress and upgrades are saved to your account as well.
The three upgrades
Grip tyres (three levels: 120, 240 and 400 scrap). Your car follows your finger faster with each level. This is the one that saves you when a plate drops right next to you.
Roof plating (two levels: 300 and 600 scrap). Each level is one free hit per run. When something lands on you, the plating takes it, flashes blue and you keep going.
Chrome paint (500 scrap). Turns your orange car shiny silver. It does nothing else. It just looks great.
What to buy first
Start with grip tyres. The first level is the cheapest thing in the garage, and faster steering helps on every single run. Then save for roof plating. One spare hit is like an extra life that's always there, no ad needed. Take the second tyre level next, then the second plating level. Chrome comes last, when you're ready to show off.
Dodging tips
- Stay near the middle. You can break left or right from there.
- Make small moves. Short drags beat big swoops.
- Bolts are quick, plates are wide. Bolts punish lazy dodging. Plates cover a lot of road, but you see them coming.
- Engines fall slower. They're big, though, so start moving early.
- Crashed? You keep the scrap from that run. You can also watch an ad to carry on once.
Plating is the only thing in the game that forgives a mistake. Buy it.
