Welcome to the Scrap League yard: nine free games to play now

Out in the desert there's a yard where the junk never stops moving. Machines built from scrap play rugby in a canyon. Mechanics patch them up under the stands. Fans jam the car park. And at night, when the floodlights go off, the critters come out. Welcome to the Scrap League yard.

We've opened the gates to nine games from this world, and every one is a free browser game. Play online, no download, no account needed. Each one is built for one finger, so a phone works just as well as a laptop.

What is the Scrap League?

Scrap League is the name of this world and of the nine games set in it. The machines are welded together from whatever the yard had lying around, the rules are loose and nobody gets hurt. When it goes wrong, drivers pop out under an umbrella. Each game covers its own corner of the yard: the rugby, the garage, the car park, the night shift. Each has its own crew and its own sense of humour.

The match-day games

• Scrap Rush is the rugby itself. Grow your pack of carts through the gates, smash the defence line and kick the conversion. Captains, derbies and a cup final.
• Scrap Smash is the big hits. Pull back, let go and knock every machine off a platform over the canyon.
• Scrap Pit is the garage under the stadium. Carry parts, fix the wrecks, hire robot helpers and grow the place.
• Scrap Tug is the match-day festival. Merge machines into bigger ones, then win a tug of war over a mud pit.

The quick hits

• Shaft Dig heads down to the yard's basement. Hold to drill, let go to grab the gold, and dig up lost treasures like the first league ball.
• Ring Ramp is the stunt crew's job. Build a ramp from blocks and fly a buggy through the rings for the half-time show.
• Bay Park is the car park after the match. Tap the machines out in the right order before the fan bus arrives.
• Lamp Hunt is the yard at night. Sweep a lamp over the junk and photograph the critters hiding there.
• Junk Maw is where all the scrap comes from. Be a hole in the ground. Swallow the small stuff, grow, eat the bus.

They're short and simple, and you'll find them under Arcade and Junk Puzzles.

Where to start

Short on time? Try Bay Park or Junk Maw. A level takes a minute or two. Want something to sink an evening into? Start a career in Scrap Rush or open the garage in Scrap Pit. Fancy a calm one before bed? Lamp Hunt is the gentlest game in the yard. Nobody gets hurt, not even the hedgehog.

In the Scrap League yard, nothing is ever thrown away. It just turns up in another game.
