Junk Maw: swallow the scrap, grow the hole, eat the bus
Be a hole in the ground. Swallow the small scrap, grow and keep eating until even the bus fits. How to play Junk Maw, a free hole game in your browser.
Every machine part in the Scrap League had to come from somewhere. In Junk Maw, it comes from a hole in the ground. You are the Maw, a magnet sinkhole with a glowing lime rim, and Tin Flats is your all-you-can-eat buffet. It's a free hole game you can play online with no download.
How it plays
Touch and hold anywhere. The hole drives toward your finger and keeps going while you hold. Move your finger to steer. Lift it and the hole glides to a stop.
The rule is simple: if it fits inside the rim, it drops in. Cans and bolts first, then tyres and buckets, then shopping carts and drums, fridges and sofas, cars and sheds, and finally pickups, caravans and tractors. Anything too big just bonks off. Every swallow makes you a little bigger.
Each level has a boss wreck standing on the site from the start. Its card says TOO BIG until you've grown enough. Then it flips to FITS!, the outline glows lime, and you drive under it to watch it topple in. That's SWALLOWED!, and the seconds left on the clock pay a bonus. Run out of time and you still get paid for the scrap you ate.
The bosses
Level 1 is a Cart Tower. Level 5 is the Rust Bus. After that come a Tow Truck, a Water Tower, the Old Hauler, a Cement Mixer and the Tower Crane, all the way up to The Big Rig on level 20. Every fifth level is a boss level and pays double. After level 20, the levels just keep coming.
Ma Gulch, the salvage boss, watches it all from her crane with a brass megaphone. From level 10 she drops a load of fresh scrap halfway through the round.
Tips for a bigger Maw
- Hold, don't swipe. Rest your thumb off to the side, in the direction you want to go.
- Small stuff first. Work up through the sizes. Ramming big things wastes time.
- Keep the combo going. Swallow without pauses and the combo climbs. At ×10 you hit MAW FRENZY! and grow faster.
- Chase the gold. From level 4, one item per level is gold. It pays ten times the tags and counts triple toward your size.
- Use the gate. Fences block a small hole. Go through the gate until you're big enough to fold the panels.
- Topple the crates. Eat the bottom crate of a stack and the whole thing falls over.
- Leave the jerboas alone. Those little desert hoppers can't be eaten. They just jump over you.
The Salvage Shed
Spend your salvage tags on four upgrades. Magnet pulls scrap in from further away. Growth makes every swallow count for more. Round Time adds seconds to the clock. Start Size starts you a size bigger. Magnet is the cheap first buy.
If it fits, it sits. In the hole. Forever.
