Ring Ramp tips: build a better ramp, fly through every ring

Out on Hoop Field, a dry lake bed next to the stadium, the stunt-ramp crew is building the jump for the half-time show. Your job: stack the blocks, hit GO and send the buggy through the rings. Ring Ramp is a free physics puzzle game you can play in your browser, no download needed.

How it works

Drag blocks from the tray onto the build strip to shape a ramp. A ghost shows you where each block will land. Changed your mind? Drag it back to the tray. When it looks right, tap GO. Comet, the stunt driver, floors the Little Dipper up your ramp, and the flight is real physics. Hit a crate wall and you stop. Clip a ring rim and you get knocked off line.

You get three runs per level, and the best one counts. One star for any ring, two for all of them in one run, and three for all the rings plus a clean landing. That's the SHOWTIME! stamp. Land badly and Comet floats down under her umbrella. No harm done. Goldie, the crew boss, will be there with a hint either way.

Know your blocks

• Crate: raises a column by one step.
• Wedge: a steep slope.
• Low wedge: a gentler slope for a flatter launch.
• Plank: spans two columns and adds speed. A fast lane.
• Kicker: a steep lip for high, short flights.
• Tyre: goes on the landing pad and bounces the buggy on.

Seven tips from the crew

1. Build stairs, not walls. Stack crates so each column is one taller than the last, then cap it with a wedge. One lonely crate on flat ground is a wall.
2. Low wedge for clean landings. A flatter launch lands smoother, and clean landings earn the third star.
3. Kicker for high rings. When rings sit high or close together, a kicker gives the steep arc you need.
4. Plank first for distance. Lay a plank before the ramp to carry more speed.
5. Watch the chalk line. The dotted spotter line updates as you drag, so you see the start of your flight before you commit.
6. Time your GO on swinging rings. They bob up and down on a crane, so when you tap matters.
7. Check the wind. The windsock chip shows how hard it blows. On some levels it changes every run.

Gold rings are smaller and optional, but they pay three times as much. Thread one when you can.

The crew yard

Washers you earn go into the Crew Yard. Engine gives a faster run-up. Spare block puts an extra crate in every tray. Air fins make the rings pull you in a little. Suspension makes landings softer. Suspension is the cheapest early buy, and it makes clean landings easier.

Measure twice, launch once. Then launch again, because you get three goes.
